Human Design: Defined Centers

In Human Design, we all have 9 centers. What makes each of us unique is that some of us have defined centers while others have undefined centers, and these vary from individual to individual. This differentiates us from one another, making us all very different from (or sometimes very similar to) one another. In this article, we'll be discussing what it means to have a defined center.

What does it mean to have a Defined Center?

When a center is defined in your Human Design chart, it means that the energy from this center is generated inside of you as opposed to outside of you.

If the throat center is defined you’ll speak with a consistent voice in every situation. Knowing if your centers are defined or undefined can help you make decisions that will keep you in alignment with your true self. You can start to consistently base your decisions on your defined centers since these are the centers that generate their energy internally.

How do I Determine if my Center is Defined?

When you look at your unique human design chart, you’ll notice some of the centers are colored in, and this means that center is defined for you.

A center is considered defined when there is a defined channel leading from one center to the other. Channels are defined when there are two defined gates, which are determined by the placement of your Planets.

When a center is defined your experiences surrounding that center will be consistent. This energy isn’t easily influenced by outside forces.

Authenticity is about being true to who you are, even when everyone around you wants you to be someone else.

-Michael Jordan

Your head center, for instance, is where your ideas and thoughts are processed and manifested. If you usually generate your own ideas before you share them with others, you likely have a defined head center.

How do I use my Defined Centers?

If you have a defined center you can be confident that the energy surrounding that area is constantly you and in alignment with your true self. It is what you give the world so give it freely. When you understand your defined centers, you can use them to not only grow yourself and your voice but understand your relationships and how to better coexist with other energies.
